"A MUST READ!"
I've been bowling for 21 years now and with an average in the low 220's, I have gotten to the talent level where I'm confident bowling in very competitive leagues and tournaments. I'm not saying this to stroke my own ego but rather to place myself into a large group of bowlers who, I feel, could benefit from the same revelation I just had today.

I was on bowl.com looking up average history for myself for a tournament application when I noticed something - an 18-month "dry spell" in honor scores. This was despite maintaining a constant average of 220 before, during and after this time period. This puzzling contradiction can only be explained by one circumstance that also occurred during that same time frame...

Like many bowlers of my caliber, I've amassed a network of pro-shop owners, bowling alley proprietors, and friends-of-friends who have gotten me access to equipment. It's this same network that told me under whispered breath how I could obtain a bowling ball at cost directly a distributor and have it drilled out of someone's garage. Logic led me to believe that it would save money and since I'm copying my existing drill pattern, I'll bowl well with it. For 18 months, this is how I obtained my equipment. This was also the same 18 months that my average remained constant, but I didn't have any honor scores and I wasn't winning any jackpots in my leagues or tournaments.

I was introduced to you when I decided to increase my competition in sport shot bowling and knew very little about the types of equipment or adjustments to make on that kind of condition. My "network" wasn't up to date on the latest bowling equipment either, other than what was "popular", and they didn't have the coaching credentials to help me. Within 15 minutes of stepping into your shop, I was impressed. Your knowledge of the latest equipment was exceptionally informative but what I liked most is knowing the difference between what ball is doing very well for a lot of people and what ball will do well FOR ME. I'm also very fond of being able to demo bowling equipment and your exceptional dedication to ensure my satisfaction with my purchase.

In the brief period of time I've been doing business with you, I've purchased 3 bowling balls for myself...and all 3 paid for themselves within 2 weeks. I've also put an end to my "dry spell" of honor scores. My most recent purchase, the Brunswick C-system 2.5 - again, not a popular ball but one you knew would work well for me and my style - has been particularly good in my hand. I've won over $2,000 in tournaments and leagues in just two months and recently, used it to bowl a 900 series in a 9-pin no-tap fundraiser.

My revelation is that I wasn't saving money by using "my connections", I was losing it. I was also doing damage to my scoring ability. Saving in the short run cost me in the long run. You and your team got me out of the logic trap and back into winning territory.

Thank you for doing what you do and I look forward to continuing our mutually rewarding relationship.

Sincerely,

Robert Raymond

"Hi Aleta. Thought you might like a report on how the new Super Trooper worked out at the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC). Of course this is based on only one night and the bowling gods are fickle, but . . . Wow! This ball was a perfect match for the way I throw it and the conditions for our league (savage backends, heads drying up, but still a big pool of oil in the middle). Of course, the ball fits my hand perfectly, but that's a given at your shop. Had two very good games, then lost it in the third - didn't move fast enough, or maybe it was time for an even milder ball. Shot 254, 248, 171. As usual, I'm greatly in your debt. Thanks for everything."

"In 2006, Penny Laperriere became a Tournament Champion, had personal high games, earned most improved average, and had excellent bowling series by taking lessons with Your Bowling Coach and attending the 2005 summer bowling camp. She also has all her bowling equipment fitted and drilled at Aleta Sill's Bowling World. Penny wrote: I owe a lot of credit to Lyn [Penny's husband]. He has helped me so much during this past year by practicing together. I also couldn't have done so well if it weren't for you great bowling coaches (Your Bowling Coaches Michelle Mullen and Aleta Sill) and great ball drilling and advice on buying bowling balls. I wouldn't go anywhere else but your pro shop (Aleta Sill's Bowling World). "

"Aleta, I just bought the Wired (ball) from you, and I would just like to thank you for the time you put into making sure that was the ball that fitted what I wanted it to do. I would also like to thank you for fixing the problem that someone else had messed up on my span. I would just like to tell you to keep up the good work, and you will see me back because I will not buy from anyone (else)."

"Michelle, It has only been through your patient coaching, practice and the help of your shop with bowling equipment that I have been able to achieve what I have this season. I also must say that "The One" and the drilling pattern you guys laid out was just made for my game. Since I got it, not only did I shoot 298 right "out of the box", but I have a 229.89 cumulative average for 39 games at 3 different houses, Country Lanes, Shorea Lanes and 300 Bowl. It has been a great season thus far and I just want to thank you again Michelle for all the help you have given me!"

"

I just wanted to take a moment to say "THANK YOU"; you are the BEST!

I got back into bowling about 18 months ago after being away from it due to health for about 15-20 years.  In this year's time, I have been to 3 different pro shops (so they called themselves), purchased 5 new bowling balls (all by recommendation from said "pro shops"), all in search of a set up that I was both comfortable and consistent with the set up.

Now I do have an irregular shaped thumb, which each of the other pro shops has either tried , but failed to custom fit the shape of the hole, or has drilled it sooooo large that it has forced me to use excessive grip pressure.

Within the last 4 weeks alone I have had the thumb holes plugged & re drilled 3 times with different set-ups, none of which have shown satisfactory results

Somehow I've still managed to carry a 178 ave. on my Monday night lge. & 188 ave. on Wed. night, but without any consistency or confidence. Example: high game 256, low game 123. High series:579, low series 490. Been able to shoot at least one 200 game every night, but still not shoot a 600 series (best of: 256, 123, 200 for a 579)

NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS:

One night while searching the web, I came across a website for "Aleta Sill's Bowling World" and drove the 45 miles to stop in and check them out. This turned out to be the best move I have made in a long time.

!!!WOW!!! This is the first word that comes to mind when I walked in. It was a pleasure to see that the store surpassed my expectations. (the website is great, but the store is better)

They had the largest selection of everything to do with bowling equipment (not just balls) that I have seen in one location.

Shinning even brighter than the display was the staff of people working. You could tell they truly loved what the do, and are the best at what they do.

Mike was the first one to greet me and after spending a few minutes of going over my concerns, then introduced me to Lisa.

Lisa took the time to look at my equipment, watch me throw a couple of shots, then measure my hand. She made some suggestions on changing my grip, showing how she would handle my thumbhole, and provided an overall evaluation of what she felt would help me out.

With all this new info I let them plug and refit one of my balls. The next day when I picked it up, Michelle came out to watch me throw a couple shots. She pointed out a few problems with my approach and offered to bring out her video equipment so I could see what I was doing wrong. It was amazing what a difference it makes to watch yourself doing something, as opposed to someone just telling you what you need to do.

Well needless to say, I had Lisa re-do another piece of my equipment and took a 45 minute lesson with Michelle. I'm happy to report that after 3-5 games of just working on my approach, my next 3 series were 603 (practice), 621 (practice) and first night of Monday Lge. 659.

This letter turned out to be much longer than I intended it to be. It started out to be a Thank You, but turned into a testimonial on the over & above service and knowledge of Mike, Lisa and Michelle at "Aleta Sill's Bowling World."  (Wish I could have met Aleta;  she was out of commission with knee surgery)

Please feel free to use me as a reference or have them give me a call because you folks have put the "Pro" into "Pro Shop"

Sincerely,

Steve Turchanik

p.s. Michelle, I look forward to our next lesson.

"Between you (Michelle Mullen), Aleta and Lisa (Bishop) I feel much more confident (in my bowling). I am trying to send as many people to you all who will listen to me! I have directed teammates and fellow bowlers to your pro shop and to the website first to read about the expertise that you and Aleta have, and I told my teammate what a great job you all do. I feel you provide a full-service experience, and I can't say enough about it. Thanks again. "

"Aleta, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how pleased and excited I am about the new ball and custom fitting I received from you at your pro shop inside Country Lanes. I have been away from bowling for about seven years, occasionally subbing for my friend's team when they needed me. Needless to say, bowling less than 20 games a year and carrying a 190 average, most people would agree -- why spend $200.00 on a new ball? Well, it's simple - I now have a 210+ average. Right out of the box, I have never thrown so many strikes. I had 12 out of 16 in a warm up and 23 strikes in three league games. I can't wait to roll it again. One of the keys to a great game is the proper fit in combination with the correct equipment for the lane conditions THANKS YOU SO MUCH for the excellent service and time you took to analyze my release. My bowling ball fits perfectly. The consistency of my release has improved 500%. I no longer have to grip the ball, but just hold on and let go. I have much better control of my ball speed as well. My hands and fingers are no longer sore after three or four games. The ball rotation and pin action are amazing. I'm seriously thinking about bowling in a couple of local tournaments again. You're awesome and thanks again."
