What is Michigan Animal Welfare Foundation

We at Aleta Sill’s Bowling World and Your Bowling Coach began fundraising in 2006 upon a suggestion to get involved in the community in a charitable way. It awakened a deep passion to help animals in need.

Blessed to see growth in our fundraising efforts, in 2017 we created our own organization called Michigan Animal Welfare Foundation, now a 501c3 non profit, to efficiently process the level of funds raised.

The mission of the Friends For Animals of Metro Detroit (FAMD) is to provide loving care and sanctuary to animals, encourage adoptions and reunions, and promote respect, responsibility and compassion for all animals. Learn more.

MAAN logoThe mission of the Michigan Animal Adoption Network (MAAN) is to provide proper housing, straw, food and supplies to animals living in outdoor conditions as well as offer assistance to families with animals living indoors. MAAN targets low-income communities by decreasing dog and cat homelessness and overpopulation through low-cost sterilization programs and other resources to families in need. MAAN also provides education on proper pet care to pet owners. Learn more.

Cat Tail AcresCat Tail Acres is a sanctuary for feral and unwanted cats. We are not a traditional shelter and do not accept socialized adult cats or kittens who are more adoptable. We believe all of God’s living and breathing creatures deserve a right to a good life. Learn more.

“I do not think I could get this involved or work as hard for any other cause. I think about those less fortunate animals out there every day and know that we can do more with our community of friends than we could possibly do ourselves to help them.” — Michelle Mullen

  • FUR BALL – An evening of mingling, dancing, cocktails, dinner, and most importantly fund raising for groups that help animals in need in our communities.
  • BOWL-4-ANIMAL RESCUE – A 3 month pledge-driven event that culminates in a huge bowling/auction/raffle event to support homeless animals in need in our community. And you do not have to bowl to participate in the pledge drive or attend the bowling event! Animals in need do not care if you bowl or not, so this event is for everyone!
  • MAWF FOOD DRIVE – Aleta Sill’s Bowling World is an official drop-off site.

2020 MAWF Food Drive

Aleta Sill’s Bowling World is an Official Drop Off Site to Accept Donations. The amazing volunteers of the Michigan Animal Adoption Network / Animal Care Network do street rescue on the weekend to feed many animals who desperately need our help.  The Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit need food and supplies while they provide a temporary home for animals until they find their forever home.  Cat Tail Acres needs food and supplies for all the feral and unwanted cats they feed and provide for every day.

The need does not end….we are ALWAYS happy to accept food donations for our furry friends who need us!

Remain a voice for those who cannot help themselves.
